Diam vel quam elementum
At varius vel pharetra vel turpis
Hi! My name is Emma Brown. I am a mom of 2 amazing girls and have 3 insanely sweet dogs. My husbands currently in the military so we’ve been moving around every few years. Although, my dad was in the Air Force so growing up I moved every 2-4 years.
I started photography as a hobby, in that awkward middle school stage. Snapping shots of cool flowers and trees, completely cringe worthy photos in this day and age. It wasn’t until highschool that I started photographing people. At this stage, photography became so much more to me. I learned that the practice of self portraits (photographing oneself), was an amazing way I could express myself.
It was therapeutic to set up my tripod, throw on the 5 second timer, and hit a pose. I focused on eliciting emotion and feeling, so my audience could see but also perceive my experience. It was through these self portraits, I fell passionately in love with the art of photography.
While for many years, photography was something I did for my family, I always feared pursuing a career in it. I never wanted something I was so passionate about become something I loathed. Until I met one of the most amazing, influential, world changing women; who changed my whole view point on photography and self image. A professional photographer herself, and image consultant. While living in Washington D.C. I had the pleasure of working as her assistant. She taught me the value of a woman loving who she is and how she looks. I saw first hand how she changed so many lives just by enabling them to be confident in themselves.
So in 2019, when we first moved to Hawaii I decided I would take the jump, and create my own photography business. It was critically important to me to incorporate everything she taught me. Too many times I have heard people say, "I got professional pictures taken and I hated them", or the class “I hate getting my photo taken”. While I fully respect that perspective, I often find none of my clients are awkward or unphotogenic. It makes me incredibly sad to hear people so disappointed in their experiences with professional photographers.
Self image runs so much of our lives and having bad pictures taken can destroy it.
It is my personal mission to provide the most stress-free, enjoyable, personalized experience to my clients. My personal motto is to live passionately, lovingly and to help people love themselves. I want people to walk away from our time together feeling beautiful and confident. Hanging pictures on their wall, reminding them everyday how amazing and beautiful they are.
While living in the Washington D.C. area, I worked with an amazingly talented image consultant. An image consultant is someone who helps someone with their personal, social and professional image and helps them to dress authentically themselves so they are always communicating who they are. She was so incredibly talented at what she did, she most literally changed so many womens lives. I've seen first hand what can happen when someone is confident, comfortable, and happy with themselves and their appearance. I truly believe that it can be life changing and lead to success.
This is why headshots are not a take one picture and done type thing. Lighting needs to be moved multiple times, backdrops switched out and outfits changed. I always recommend bringing at least 2 outfits, so you have two different looks. Giving you more of a variety in selection gives you the ability to pick which one you feel is most authentically you. I am here to help you figure out what to wear, how to accessorize and have referrals for hair and makeup artists as well.
